3/9/2015 | Bassmaster Classic to Return to Tulsa, Okla., and Grand Lake O’ The Cherokees in March 4-6, 2016
VisitTulsa announced today that the Bassmaster Classic, the Super Bowl of Bass Fishing, will return to Tulsa in 2016. The organization first hosted the pro-level event in 2013, attracting nearly 107,000 attendees and generating an estimated $22.7 million economic impact on the region.
“We’re so excited to finally say the Bassmaster Classic is coming back to Tulsa,” said Ray Hoyt, president of VisitTulsa. “We worked our tails off in 2013 to ensure this event was a huge success because we wanted to show our partners at B.A.S.S., and other major league events, what a great place the Tulsa region is. We wanted another Classic the minute the 2013 event was over, and today we can finally say it out loud: The Classic comes back in 2016. A huge thanks to our regional partners, especially Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, for their support in making this a reality.”
Hosts of the 2016 Classic will be Tulsa Regional Chamber, VisitTulsa, Grand Lake Association and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa. The 46th championship will be held March 4-6, 2016.

The NCAA announced today that Tulsa will host the first and second rounds of the 2017 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championships. The Tulsa Sports Commission partnered with the University of Tulsa and host venue BOK Center/SMG to bid on the event.

The Tulsa Sports Commission has launched an initiative to empower women and girls through sports and fitness in the Tulsa area, the organization announced Tuesday. Athletic Women Excel, or AWE Tulsa, will focus on retaining, recruiting, developing and enhancing local women’s athletic events, programs and organizations for their economic and personal health benefits.
3/21/2013 | Tulsa Sports Commission announces return of USA Volleyball to Tulsa
The Tulsa Sports Commission announced today that it will once again welcome USA Volleyball, the governing body for U.S. Olympic volleyball teams, to Tulsa. Tulsa has been chosen as one of three sites for the 2013 International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) World League matches. Other cities are Wichita, KS and Reno, NV.
The FIVB World League is an elite men’s volleyball competition in which the best teams in the world compete in pool play over seven weeks trying to qualify for the final round and a first-place prize of $1 million.
1/16/2012 | Tulsa Sports Commission announces Tulsa as host of 2012 U.S. Elite Challenge
More than 400 gymnasts are expected to head to Tulsa for trampoline and tumbling’s 2012 U.S. Elite Challenge competition March 30 through April 1. Held at the Tulsa Convention Center, the three-day event showcases the nation’s best in men’s and women’s trampoline, tumbling, synchronized trampoline and double mini-trampoline. The U.S. Elite Challenge is one of three events that are part of the selection process for the U.S. Olympic Team for trampoline.

Chili Bowl co-founder Emmett Hahn said at a Tulsa Sports Commission and Lucas Oil-sponsored press conference yesterday that the proper introduction in Tulsa is "two-time Chili Bowl champ."
